the utter hypocrisy of governor walz implementing a curfew then sending out the largest police force in minnesota history to shoot tear gas into brooklyn center apartment complexes filled with families who are not allowed to leave their homes

fucking failure

this is now the second night that the police / national guard (SWAT, DNR, UMPD, state troopers) have attacked apartment complexes in brooklyn center with tear gas and flash bangs. plus governor walz’s pathetic fucking response to the deployment of chemical weapons against minnesotans which he claims were “thoughtfully used” on april 12th

Here’s an article that explains the situation in more depth.

Here’s one with links to help out with community fundraising (and volunteering info, if you’re local)

The only people perpetuating violence are the police who keep killing innocent people when people respond to that violence with violence of their own they’re resisting an inherently violent system which you want them to be passive towards and allow to commit violence without repercussions.

Tonight they used pepper spray and talcum power. Tonight they tried to arrest a woman who walked out of her apartment in her bathroom to see what was happening. Today they continued to aim their rubber bullets at press as they tried to detained them and at every turn to harass them. The last several nights they held over crowd bus loads of people in zip-ties for hours until many black out. Today they tried minors stuck on those buses as adults as the cop murderer left quicker than any protestor did. The last several nights they used sound cannons to permanently injure community members.

Chauvin’s (Floyd’s murderer) trail will wrap up in a few days, and no one knows what that will do to the situation.

I just had a conversation with some gun nut about protecting ourselves from our own government.

I’ve been watching their feeds. Not a word about taking their fucking pea shooters and riding down to Minnesota to protect the people from their government.

Not a fucking peep.

here is a link to the gofundme for the funeral of delaina yaun, a victim of the shooting in atlanta, and another link to the gofundme to support her family, she is survived by 2 children and a husband. (these are both verified by gofundme.)

here is a gofundme link for elcias hernandez ortiz, who was shot but is currently in intensive care as i write this. he was the only survivor of this attack. his family will need help paying for the medical bills. (cnn includes this link in an article about the attack.)

if i find any more links to the help out the victims friends and family i will add them.

doing leftism exclusively on the internet gives you brainworms. like yeah read theory, talk to people on social media, but at some point you have to go outside. please. the things you say and believe about politics have repercussions in the real world and you have to live in that world to understand what those repercussions could be. find out who’s doing mutual aid in your community. join the iww or food not bombs or a community garden or a street medic collective or a prison letter writing campaign or something helpful that forces you to talk with real human beings directly about and in the context of their actual lives

white lgbt ppl dont know how much trouble theyve caused for us -_-

white lgbt ppl will constantly have to be informed about racism and nonwhite issues bc they’re only ever friends w other white people, speak over lgbt ppl of color when it comes to representation and problems in media, not acknowledge when white supremacy feeds into intracommunity bigotry. and then say things like “the lgbt community shouldn’t be at odds with each other! 😤” i don’t know if you guys know how big a split there is between you and us at the best of times

white gays can reblog this if u can keep ur mouth shut

white people who wanted to prove their chivalry in the tags donate to these organizations in support of asian americans in light of the recent shooting

The urgency rose as heavy machinery from the developer gouged swaths through the property. Immediately, I reached out to the property owner to conduct a citizen science gopher tortoise burrows survey. Unfortunately, the burrows were easy to find. I simply followed the bulldozer tracks which led to numerous collapsed and abandoned burrows. The Florida rosemary along these paths is now dying.
However, there are also signs of new life, sprouts that give me hope that this habitat can be restored and preserved. We need the crisp clean air these pines and oaks provide. We must protect the fluffy lichen that scatter the ground like snow. We must conserve this unique mosaic of species for generations to witness and cherish forever.
This tranquil green habitat was nearly lost. It was under contract for $14.5 million for condo development by Pulte Homes, which pulled out on Oct. 19 in response to reduced density restrictions and the public pressure for conservation.
The estate’s representative then gave Dunedin and Pinellas County a second chance of 90 days, until Jan. 18, to make an offer. The current appraised value is $11 million; however, an appraisal with the updated reducing density zoning has been requested.

If you’re celebrating Biden’s win, consider celebrating by donating to a bail fund, planned parenthood, or the Navajo Water project.

Your action to help the marginalized shouldnt end at presidential candidates and voting.

So fucking proud of ya’ll for not dropping the ball on this one!

Now I want you to spend the next 4 years riding Biden’s ass.

The orange facist is out of the white house! Good!

Now continue to be furious! Continue to take to the streets!! Everything that happened is still happening, but now we have an elected official who is not fundamentally inclined to murder us in the streets. That is a powerful thing to have in times of protest. SO KEEP PROTESTING.

Ride his wrinkly white ass towards healthcare reform, wealth inequality reform, social safety reform, police reform abolishment, corporate taxation, worker protection, queer & black & indigenous rights, an end to systemic racism & homelessness & the war on drugs this is just the beginning and I have no fucking patience for anyone who wants to use the election as an excuse to get things back to “normal”. NORMAL WASN’T FUCKING WORKING.

keep floridas name out of yalls mouth challenge

people are on twitter throwing shade at Texas and Louisiana as if Texan republicans didn’t just file a federal lawsuit to throw out 127,000 votes – Texas (which could fit the entire UK in it 2.8 times need i remind you) also closed hundreds of polling sites, leaving one county with only two sites. TWO. Louisiana also ordered hundreds of polling places to close early ON ELECTION DAY.

i don’t want to hear people going “oobloobloo these boomers” and “oobloobloo the south” and “oobloobloo these hillbillies”

IT’S DIRECT VOTER SUPPRESSION.

so stop making jokes about sleeping when southerners need help during hurricanes because your middle class white ass was able to safely get in your subaru to drive to your local polling place on your lunchbreak meanwhile voters on their way to their polling places in north carolina were pepper-sprayed by police.

skullrock:

a few things -

1. tomorrow w the election results, realize that many votes were mailed in and will be counted until the end of november (x). tomorrow will not have a definitive winner. it’ll be a projection. it seems that a lot of mail in ballots are democratic party votes, so keep your head up unless there’s some kind of massive landslide.

2. voter intimidation is real and i would expect it to be pretty bad at the polls tomorrow. if you experience or witness voter intimidation, please call 1-866-our-vote (1-866-687-8683) to report it. this number calls the national voter protection hotline and they can send federal investigators as well as local law enforcement to help. it’s a good practice to record any voter intimidation that you see at the polls and write your account and report it to local law enforcement, the ACLU, local news, etc. save this evidence in a place that you will not lose it and cc yourself on any emails you send to ensure you do not lose it too.

2a. if possible, vote with a friend or family member.

3. if you are uncertain about your voter status, have not gotten a response that your mail-in ballot has been processed, or if you are booted from the polling line for xyz reasons, please make sure you grab a provisional ballot. idaho, minnesota, and new hampshire unfortunately do not do provisional ballots, but all other 47 states do. as per the linked website, it is a federal law in these states to give voters provisional ballots. quote, “If an individual declares that such individual is a registered voter in the jurisdiction in which the individual desires to vote and that the individual is eligible to vote in an election for Federal office, but the name of the individual does not appear on the official list of eligible voters for the polling place or an election official asserts that the individual is not eligible to vote, such individual shall be permitted to cast a provisional ballot….” if your state gives them and you cannot vote regularly, get one of these!

4. if you live in a large city and expect lines, make sure you dress for the weather and bring a snack or two!

5. some states will allow you to declare an emergency ballot if you are sick on election day. if you’re feeling under the weather, check if your state will allow you to have one.

6. here are the tips the CDC has for voting during the pandemic so that you can protect yourself at the polls.

7. TIME magazine has a really great q&a article for other questions you may have tomorrow!

8. please take care of yourself. avoid social media and the news if you need too. hang out with people in your bubble and try to do something to distract yourself if you’re worried about the results!

i hope some of these links have helped and please feel free to share.
